TECHNICAL RESCUE is the term generally applied to Rope Rescue; rescues done utilizing ropes, harnesses, anchor plates, pulleys, carabiners, ascenders, descenders, etc. A properly trained technical rescue technician can utilize everything from very simple equipment to very sophisticated equipment to rescue a victim from any situation from a slope to a vertical drop.

These same techniques are used in cave rescues, confined space rescues, bridge rescues, etc.; anyplace where there is an elevation and a victim who must be either raised or lowered from where they are to safety.
